White Ibis
White Ibis is a large wading bird. They have a football shape body, a long neck and a curved red bill. A mature white ibis has a white body, red legs and red skin around its eyes. In flight they extend their long necks and legs straight out.
Exploring Gordon Pond with My Infrared Camera
The Gordons Pond Trail is located in the Cape Henlopen State Park. The park trail winds along the western side of Gordons Pond, a 900 acre great salt lagoon. There are entrances to the park trail. The southern end of the trail begins at the Gordons Pond parking area located in Rehoboth Beach. The northern access point begins at The Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes at the bottom of the Herring Point parking area.
Burrowing Owl
The burrowing owl is a small, long-legged owl found throughout open landscapes of North and South America. Burrowing owls can be found in grasslands, rangelands, agricultural areas, deserts, or any other open dry area with low vegetation. They nest and roost in burrows, such as those excavated by prairie dogs.
